Port of Broome In-Principle Agreement Reached Following Fair Work Commission Conciliation

24 Aug 2026

Kimberley Ports Authority (KPA) has been negotiating with Port of Broome stevedoring and maintenance employees and the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) to replace an Enterprise Agreement since October 2025.

Following a conciliation conference facilitated by the FWC in Perth on Friday 21 August, the negotiating committee reached in principle agreement on a new Enterprise Agreement. As a result, all Protected Industrial Action (PIA) at the Port of Broome has been suspended.

KPA anticipate employees will conduct a vote on the terms of the agreement on Friday 28 August which, if supported, will enable all notified PIA to be formally withdrawn.

Concluding the negotiations for the agreement will provide certainty for employees, customers and stakeholders and allows all parties to focus on delivering services to all operations at the Port of Broome.
